Monotony

Abandoned Site – Niland, CA – 2015

Day In. Day Out. Day In. Day Out. Repetition. The job. The monotony of life. The continuous motion, losing track of time. This is the Morton Salt Salt Shaker Filling Factory. My job is to fill the salt shakers to perfection and screw on the little tops and pass them on to whoever arranges them in packages to be shipped off to the store. Someone was here before me, doing this same task. Mindlessly milling about like a robot. Someone will fill my spot after I leave. Mindlessly milling about like a robot. Until someone fills the spot after them. Mindlessly milling about like a robot. Maybe I got a little bored. Maybe I was disenfranchised. Maybe I felt like I was worth more than filling the salt shakers to perfection. So I dropped the salt box and threw those glass salt shakers across the room. Shattered them on the ground. Don’t let the monotony of life hold you prisoner. But what do I know. I lost my job at the Morton Salt Salt Shaker Filling Factory.
